DesertBoard® proudly participated in the Al Ain Dates Festival 2025, held from January 3rd to 8th under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority at Wahat Hili, Al-Ain, the festival celebrated the historical significance of the palm tree as a symbol of Emirati heritage while promoting awareness of UAE traditions and cultural practices.
DesertBoard® showcased the region’s most sustainable building material, Palm Strand Boards (PSB), which are crafted from the locally sourced, annually regenerated palm frond biomass, that would otherwise end up in landfills or be incinerated, releasing methane and CO2 into the atmosphere.
Engineered for an eco-friendly built environment, these boards contain zero formaldehyde, are up to 90 minutes fire rated, acoustically insulated, high-strength, durable, moisture and resistant. PSB boards versatility makes them ideal for diverse applications across construction, landscaping, event management, and interior design.
Aligned with the UAE’s Vision 2030, DesertBoard®’s PSB contributes directly to achieving net-zero carbon emissions. With a 100% deforestation-free supply chain, DesertBoard® holds an annual production capacity of 6,200 boards per day, accommodating 16 (20-ft) containers. By reducing reliance on imported wood, DesertBoard® supports Abu Dhabi’s industrial diversification strategy. This strategy focuses on reducing dependency on oil and gas while promoting the growth of non-oil sectors such as manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable industries. DesertBoard® plays a crucial role in this transformation by providing a locally produced, eco-friendly alternative to conventional building materials, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s position as a hub for green initiatives and sustainable industrial practices.
Visitors to the festival were captivated by DesertBoard®’s commitment to transforming traditional materials into high-performance, eco-friendly building solutions. The initiative exemplified how innovation and sustainability can coexist to preserve heritage while supporting the UAE’s environmental goals.
DesertBoard® expressed its gratitude to the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority for organizing this esteemed event, which served as a celebration of culture, tradition, and environmental consciousness.
