DesertBoard’s Full-Scale PSB® Houses Featured in Gulf News.

Demonstrating the practical potential of sustainable innovation in construction, DesertBoard was recently spotlighted in Gulf News for its pioneering prototype home—built entirely from Palm Strand Board (PSB®)—unveiled at Dubai Creek Harbour.

The article explores the development of a 240m² residential structure designed to showcase the material’s performance across real-world applications. Completed in under a month, the model home features one- and two-bedroom layouts and incorporates over 350 DesertBoard PSB® panels across external and internal walls, ceilings, doors, kitchens, vanities, and pergolas. The structure also integrates premium finishes such as porcelain flooring, aluminium-framed curtain walls, and custom joinery by Abanos Interiors.

This initiative highlights the structural strength, fire resistance, and water resilience of PSB®—a formaldehyde-free, carbon-negative board manufactured entirely from upcycled palm fronds. It also affirms DesertBoard’s leadership as the region’s only manufacturer of sustainable fire-rated door cores.

The Gulf News article also notes DesertBoard’s growing global recognition, including its Big See Award for contribution to the Tarabot Pavilion commissioned by Art Jameel, and the CSR Commitment Award presented during the Dubai Wood Show 2025—an international event welcoming over 780 exhibitors from more than 50 countries.

As DesertBoard continues to push the boundaries of green construction, this prototype serves as a bold statement of what is possible when innovation, sustainability, and regional identity come together.
