Best Practices.

It is recommended to coat the boards to enhance their durability and resilience against moisture, thereby ensuring their reliability in load-bearing applications.

For optimal performance of PSB® Prime, it is recommended to use the boards in environments with low moisture exposure to ensure their longevity.

For components being fastened, such as beams, rafters, joists, and trusses, pre-drilling is essential. The diameter of the pre-drilled hole should be smaller than the screw diameter to ensure effective engagement of the screw threads.

During transportation and storage, avoid direct exposure to water droplets and precipitation on the edges and surfaces of PSB® boards. Adequate protective covers should be provided to safeguard the boards.

Use screws, nails, or staples for fastening, ensuring the length is at least 2.5 times the board thickness, but not less than 50-75 millimeters (mm). Fastening should occur at intervals of 150-300 millimeters (mm) on intermediate supports, depending on specific application requirements.

Non-Load-Bearing Partitions for Interior Fit-Out

Where a partition wall carries no structural load, PSB® Prime gives a formaldehyde-free, palm-based board with the stiffness and finish quality interior fit-out needs, without paying for structural performance the wall does not use.

2,500N/mm² modulus of elasticity
14–20N/mm² modulus of rupture
9–44mm board thickness
01

Formaldehyde-Free Partition Board

A no-added-formaldehyde PMDI binder supports healthier indoor air in offices, schools, hospitals, hotels and residential interiors.

02

Cost-Effective for Non-Structural Walls

Standard mechanical performance matched to non-load-bearing partitions, so specifiers are not paying for structural capacity the wall does not need.

03

Six Finish Options Including Melamine

Supplied raw, melamine-faced, sanded, putty-finished, coated or veneered, from a ready decorative surface to a base for high-quality paint.

What is PSB® Prime used for in wall partitions?
PSB® Prime is a general-purpose, non-load-bearing board for interior partition walls, fit-out and paneling in low-moisture environments. It suits offices, schools, hospitals, hotels and residential interiors where a formaldehyde-free, cost-effective board is needed and the wall does not carry structural load.
Can PSB® Prime be used in humid areas or wet rooms?
PSB® Prime is designed for interiors with low moisture exposure, with thickness swelling of up to 20%. Coating the boards and protecting their edges from water during storage and transport improves durability. For humid areas or exterior walls, specify PSB® Supreme, which has a maximum thickness swelling of 15% uncoated and under 5% when properly coated.
What is the difference between PSB® Prime and PSB® Supreme?
PSB® Prime is the non-load-bearing interior grade, with a modulus of elasticity of 2,500 N/mm², a modulus of rupture of 14 to 20 N/mm² and thickness swelling of up to 20%, and is also available with a melamine face. PSB® Supreme is the higher-performance grade, with a modulus of elasticity of 3,500 N/mm² and thickness swelling under 5% when coated, used for cladding, sub flooring, roofing and exterior applications.
How does PSB® Prime compare to MDF and particle board for partitions?
All three are suitable for interior partitions, but MDF and particle board typically use urea-formaldehyde binders with E1 emissions. PSB® Prime uses a no-added-formaldehyde PMDI binder for better indoor air quality, offers good system-based acoustic performance, is made from palm fronds with no trees cut, and is manufactured 100% in the UAE. See the comparison table above.
