Product Suggested: PSB® Supreme

Why PSB® Supreme

  • Superior Moisture Resistance Performance: PSB® Supreme exhibits excellent moisture resistance, with a maximum thickness swelling of 15%. PSB® Supreme, when coated properly, results in a thickness swelling of less than 5%.
  • High Modulus of Elasticity and Rupture Strength: PSB® Supreme demonstrates high performance in terms of modulus of elasticity, measuring 3,500 Newtons per square millimeter (N/mm²), and modulus of rupture, ranging from 16 to 22 Newtons per square millimeter (N/mm²).
  • Enhanced Screw Withdrawal Strength and Reusability: PSB® Supreme provides exceptional screw hold capacity compared to other solutions, with edge hold at 1,350 Newtons (N) and face hold at 1,650 Newtons (N). PSB® Supreme’s mechanical properties allow for repeated use of the same hole without any loss in performance.

Best Practices.

To ensure optimal performance in humid conditions, it is recommended to apply a coating to the boards. This will enhance their durability and resilience against moisture, thereby maintaining their reliability in load-bearing applications.

When resizing the boards (cutting to different or smaller dimensions), it is essential to coat the newly exposed edges.

For components being fastened, such as beams, rafters, joists, and trusses, pre-drilling is essential. The diameter of the pre-drilled hole should be smaller than the screw diameter to ensure effective engagement of the screw threads.

During transportation and storage, it is important to protect the PSB® boards from direct exposure to water droplets and precipitation on their edges and surfaces. Ensure that adequate protective covers are provided to maintain their integrity.

For fastening, it is recommended to use screws, nails, or staples with a length at least 2.5 times the thickness of the board, but not less than 50-75 mm. Fastening should be carried out at intervals of 150-300 mm on intermediate supports (depending on roof pitch), 150 mm along board joints, and 100 mm along roof edges.

It is advised not to install decorative tiles or wallpaper directly on PSB® Supreme, nor should plaster work be applied to its surface.

FAQs.

Seating arrangements are typically made from timber, MDF, chipboard, plastics, and metals. Each has trade-offs: timber can warp, plastics may degrade under UV exposure, and MDF emits formaldehyde. DesertBoard PSB® provides a sustainable alternative that combines strength, machinability, and eco-credentials, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor seating projects.

Seating is subjected to constant use, weight loads, and sometimes rough handling. Weak materials can fail quickly, compromising safety and comfort. Durable materials like DesertBoard PSB® ensure long-lasting seating solutions, reducing replacement needs and lifecycle costs. This makes durability a key factor in both commercial and residential seating projects.

The GCC’s heat, humidity, and termites often degrade traditional seating made from MDF or timber. This leads to warping, cracking, and high maintenance costs. DesertBoard PSB® is engineered to resist these challenges, ensuring seating arrangements remain durable and attractive in harsh climates.

Sustainable seating avoids VOC emissions, improves indoor air quality, and reduces environmental impact. DesertBoard PSB® is certified zero-formaldehyde, making it safe for schools, hospitals, and offices. By using sustainable seating, developers enhance occupant wellness while also supporting ESG goals.

The lifespan of seating depends on material quality and usage. MDF seating may fail within a few years, while high-performance boards like DesertBoard PSB® extend service life significantly. Its termite resistance and dimensional stability ensure long-lasting seating systems, lowering lifecycle costs.

Yes. Modern seating must balance functionality with design appeal. DesertBoard PSB® is machinable and finish-ready, supporting laminates, veneers, paints, and CNC designs. This allows developers to create seating that is both comfortable and visually attractive while remaining sustainable.

Comfortable, durable seating enhances focus and productivity in workplaces. Poor-quality seating can lead to discomfort and frequent replacements. DesertBoard PSB® provides stable, ergonomic foundations that combine durability with eco-credentials, supporting both comfort and ESG priorities in office environments.

Upfront, sustainable seating may cost slightly more, but it reduces lifecycle expenses through durability and lower maintenance. DesertBoard PSB® adds further savings with local manufacturing and long-term resilience, making it more cost-effective than short-lived MDF or timber seating.

Yes. Seating in hospitality and retail spaces often doubles as a brand touchpoint. DesertBoard PSB® can be customized with branded finishes, CNC-cut logos, or decorative coatings, helping businesses align design with eco-conscious values.

Yes. DesertBoard PSB®, manufactured locally in Abu Dhabi, is available for sustainable seating projects across the GCC. Made from upcycled palm fronds, it is carbon-negative, termite-resistant, and zero-formaldehyde, providing reliable, eco-friendly seating solutions for both residential and commercial applications.

Seating arrangements, whether in auditoriums, offices, or hospitality projects, require strong, durable, and safe materials. DesertBoard PSB® provides excellent density, screw-holding strength, and machinability, ensuring long-lasting performance. Unlike MDF, it resists warping, cracking, and termite damage, making it reliable in GCC conditions.
