DesertBoard Showcases Bio-Based Innovation at the 2nd Desert Architecture MENA Forum 2026 .

DesertBoard participated in the 2nd Desert Architecture MENA Forum 2026, held on 18–19 June 2026 at Habtoor Grand Resort, Dubai, UAE. The forum served as a regional platform that convenes architects, engineers, urban planners, and sustainability experts to explore the future of construction in arid environments, with a strong focus on climate-responsive design, resilient urban systems, and resource-efficient development.

At the forum, DesertBoard presented its innovative Palm Strand Board (PSB®), a sustainable, zero-formaldehyde engineered wood solution developed from locally sourced pruned palm fronds. The showcase highlighted how bio-based materials can move beyond concept and actively support real-world applications across the built environment, particularly in interiors, fit-out, joinery, and architectural applications.

PSB® was exhibited across a thickness range of 9 mm to 45 mm, demonstrating its flexibility across diverse applications, and was presented in multiple finishes to address both functional performance and aesthetic project requirements. The PSB® range demonstrated its adaptability across diverse applications, offering high-performance solutions for door cores, wall systems, cabinetry, furniture boards, shelving, and other multi-purpose construction needs, while maintaining strength, durability, and design flexibility.

Aligned with the UAE’s long-term sustainability agenda and its commitment to Net Zero 2050, DesertBoard reinforced the role of locally sourced, carbon-conscious materials in reducing embodied carbon and supporting a circular economy approach within the construction sector. The use of palm-based agricultural byproduct reflects a broader shift toward transforming pruned palm fronds into high-value building materials that serve both environmental and industrial objectives.

Discussions at the forum further highlighted the importance of region-specific innovation, where material science, design thinking, and environmental responsibility intersect to address the unique challenges of desert climates. Within this context, DesertBoard’s PSB® was positioned as a practical example of how sustainable materials can be scaled for mainstream adoption without compromising performance standards.

DesertBoard’s participation at the 2nd Desert Architecture MENA Forum 2026 reflected its ongoing commitment to contributing solutions that align with the UAE’s vision for a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and innovation-driven built environment.
